ATHENA Production Team Will Create New Role for Kim Hyun Joong as Secret Agent in Intelligency Agency
Ilkan Sports 2010.05.12 (wed) 10:09am
[JES Lee·Gyonnan] The high possibility of Kim Hyun Joong being a part of the TV drama ATHENA, which is the most highly anticipated drama for the second half of this year, has stirred much interest in everyone.
The production company, Taewon Entertainment said, "If it's decided that Kim Hyun Joong joins the cast, (we) will customize a role just for him",
and this demonstrates their positive attitude and hope towards Kim Hyun Joong joining the drama team. Kim Hyun Joong too has expressed his wish to evolve from the previous Flower Boy image to a more masculine role.
Although both parties are keeping an open and positive mind towards this,
the main reason for not being able to formally seal the deal and sign the contract is because of Kim Hyun Joong's existing exclusive contract with his agency. Kim Hyun Joong's contract with his current agency will end on 8th June. Kim Hyun Joong has not made any public announcement about whether he will stay on with DSP or will sign with a new agency.
Pertinent to this issue, Athena's production unit said, "Due to the fact that it's still unclear as to which main party is in a position to confirm and sign the contract for Kim Hyun Joong's appearance (in the drama),
so we can only wait till Kim Hyun Joong's current exclusive contract runs out." They also said, "Based on the current storyline and plot, there are no suitable roles for Kim Hyun Joong. If Kim Hyun Joong's appearance is confirmed, the plan is to create a totally new character for him,
and it will be a substantial role" and "In order to demonstrate Kim Hyun Joong's enthusiasm towards action-packed acting, the role of a key personnel from the central intelligence bureau is most suitable."
However, it is also possible that Kim Hyun Joong will not appear in Athena.
A related personnel from Taewon Entertainment said, "Athena has to crank-in by mid June, we cannot keep waiting for Kim Hyun Joong. If we're unable to invite Kim Hyun Joong to join the drama team, we're also discussing about selecting an alternative from idol groups of similar age, in order to have a contingency plan for the drama team."
A spin-off from Iris, Athena is a much talked-about production with a sterling cast of heavyweight actors and actresses, such as Jung Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, Su Ae, Lee Ji Ah, and others. Jung Woo Sung will play a key personnel from the central intelligence unit, Cha Seung Won will appear as a terrorist. The drama is expected to air on SBS TV at year-end.

"Kim HyunJoong's participation, no such decision yet"
SS501 leader Kim HyunJoong's consideration for participation in drama 'Athena: Goddess of the War'has previously been reported about. But to this, production company Taewon Entertainment denied.
Taewon Entertainment personnel has said in a phone interview on the May 11 afternoon with Newsen, "Kim HyunJoong's casting and related information hasn't even been considered for any finalized decision at all, right from the start, there haven't been a single meeting up with the production team
yet", thus dismissing the rough talkabouts of the drama's casting.
This personnel has also added on, "Kim HyunJoong hasn't even resolved his (contract) issues with his agency. Because of that, after he's resolved those problems with his agency, only then would we undergo discussion for it", "Though we know that one of our staff member are close acquaintances with HyunJoong and have had discussions with him, but because we haven't come to a final decision yet, we aren't mentioning any thing for now".
On the other hand, Kim HyunJoong's full contract will be soon expiring on the 6th next month with current agency company DSP Entertainment. Exactly because of this, after the contract issue has been resolved for, only then would they carry out discussions to this participation of drama Athena.
Should Kim HyunJoong participate in Athena, it would be his second time challenging the role of an actor after KBS 2TV drama 'Boys over Flowers' ended its run in 2009 March.
'Athena' is set to be released earliest second half of this year.
'Athena: Goddess of the War' will be produced by 'IRIS' production company
Taewon Entertainment, and will feature stars like Cha Seungwon, Jung Woosung, Su Ae, Lee JiAh etc.

[News][2010.05.11] Hyun Joong Considered For Drama Participation in 'Athena: Goddess of War'

Singer and actor Kim HyunJoong is currently considered for participation
in drama "Athena: Goddess of the war" (IRIS spin-off).
Kim HyunJoong has had several meetings with 'Athena' related production team, the fact that this discussion of HyunJoong's considered participation was held had been revealed. Sports Korea has reported that KimHyunJoong has had met up with the production company Taewon Entertainment several times and exchanged numerous opinions about his character in drama.
A personnel said, "The situation now is, both sides hasn't come to a finalized decision. Kim HyunJoong has both his singer activities to carry out, and also, another possible drama shooting in future, we're currently trying to resolve for some thing".
However, KimHyunJoong's full participation hasn't been exactly decided for yet. If he is finalized for participation, drama 'Athena' would have gathered together all the top stars like that of a public festival exhibition.
On the other hand, production team has already confirmed about the
finalized participation of a razzling-dazzling cast with actors Cha Seung-won, Jung Woo-sung, Su-Ae, Lee Jiah etc. From here, should group SS501's leader who appeared through KBS 2TV drama "Boys over Flowers" 's character Yoon Jihoo be able to join into this, his status of Hanryu star would undoubtedly add on to the majestic ambience of this 'Hanryu drama'.
"Athena", in its first half, will be talking about the threat of the terror organization Athena, it will be terrifying the world with its terror bombardments and dupes. According to the production team Taewon Entertainent who produced IRIS, it will no longer be 'NSS'(name of terror organization) as in IRIS, but instead will be 'NTS' of the terror organization's name. To this, the production team has stressed firmly, "This has totally got nothing to do with IRIS' so-called sequel 'Iris 2'."
Athena is scheduled for broadcast through SBS this year end quickest, and latest will be 2011 first half year.

Yesterday Kyu came over to my neighborhood for filming, so I went over to see.
The atmosphere is great ^^ He was playing around with the staffs, and seems to be quite close with Nam Gyuri too~ There is a scene where he has to run, and the strap (translator note : maybe from the clothes?) entangled onto Kyu’s leg, and PD noticed it and ended up roaring with laughter ^^ (translator note : I’m not sure about this, but only sure that Kyu made the PD laugh..)
I don’t know if he trimmed his hair, because it doesn’t look as long as in the wedding photo !! I don’t know if it is because he is acting as a patient, his lip color is very pale, and the clothes he wore is also very cute~he even wore a cute baseball cap >.<

30-Jan, one Korean Green Pea (totally lucky person) was going through a park with her friend, and this person filming (with Nam Gyuri), Her friend recognizes that it is SS501’s Kim KyuJong, and while watching the filming, they were being captivated by his lovely smile.

In the program, Kim Hyun Joong said: "The bike that I rode in 'Boys over Flowers' cost around 100 million won (~USD87,115), even the helmet cost a high price of around 18 million won (~USD15,680). Living like a tycoon for 5 month, after going back to the real Kim Hyun Joong life, I felt a bit miserable, felt that the life after shooting 'Boys over Flowers' was more bitter.'
'Boys over Flowers' which Kim Hyun Joong acted in cause the entire south Korea to start a 'Flower Boy fever'. This drama was also received high viewership when aired in Japan, Taiwan and China, allowing the TV Station to gain very high profit. Due to the 'Boys over Flowers' popularity, props used in the drama including cars and bicycle were selling very well. Goo Jun Pyo's hair style and Goo Hye Sun bike also have high popularity.
Yoon Eun Hye who was interviewed together with Kim Hyun Joong revealed: "I had also acted as a daughter of a tycoon, but I do not have any problem adapting back to normal life." Her words were obviously in contrast to Kim Hyun Joong.

[News] Jung Min Is Homeless @ MBC new TV show 'Life Theater 2010'!!
While Maknae is working on his first drama 'Black City', we will soon see our Mal appearing in MBC new TV show 'Life Theater 2010'! Not sure of the details yet, but it seems that his role is a homeless man sleeping under the bridge~~! Ahh.. poor Mal was filming outdoor in such cold weather on Tuesday, a day after Korea's worst snow storm in 70 years!~ Hope he doesn't catch the cold bug...

Gagman tramp Choi DooYoung and SS501’s Park JungMin became tramps/homeless persons!
- MBC Every1- You will see Park JungMin’s first acting in “Human Theatre 2010”.
On the day after the biggest snowfall in 70 years, seems like we can have high expectation for SS501 Park Jung Min’s first acting where he saved fire with his entire body.
In the ending scene, we will see him becoming a tramp with gagman tramp Choi DooYoung in this short TV show.
In this new “Human Theatre 2010”, it will show popular artistes one by one while also having cameo appearance by gagman tramp Choi DooYoung in the all-new 2010 TV show, which is expected to be even more interesting!
